Metal weight calculator

Weight of bars, tubes, sections and sheets of steel, stainless, aluminium, copper and other metals.

Theoretical weight calculation

––
Weight per piece–
Total weight–

Theoretical weight based on nominal dimensions and material density. Corner radii and tolerances are not taken into account, so the actual weight may differ slightly.

How it is calculated

Weight per metre = cross-section area (mm²) × density (kg/dm³) / 1000. Piece weight = weight per metre × length (m). For sheets: weight per m² = thickness (mm) × density.

Densities used

Materialkg/dm³
Steel (structural)7.85
Stainless steel7.93
Aluminium2.7
Copper8.96
Brass8.5
Bronze8.8
Aluminium bronze7.6
Grey cast iron7.2
