Flow losses

To size flexible hose lines, the flow resistance – the pressure loss – must be known. Losses in straight hose lines were determined by practical and laboratory tests and are used to estimate losses in curved lines.
The abscissa shows the flow rate in l/min and the ordinate the pressure loss in bar per metre of straight hose. The inclined lines correspond to the hose diameters in millimetres.
How to read: find the flow rate on the abscissa, go up to the line of the hose diameter and read the loss on the ordinate. Multiply by the line length in metres for the total loss. Allow for higher losses in bends.
